The "Ayalon Institute” perhaps sounds innocent and does not mean a lot to many, but it was the same in the 1940s when only a few knew what this "Ayalon Institute” was: a top secret, underground factory for the manufacturing of bullets for the Sten sub-machine gun which was used by the "Hagana”. Here at the heart of an innocent grove in the Kibbutzim Hill near Rehovot, is this special place, which functions without much public relations and offers a little bit of a different tour under the ground with many piquant stories from the turbulent 1940s. In this context, it is interesting to know that the entrances to the underground factory went through a bakery (fictive) and a launderette (which really did do laundry). This place presents a recreation of the production lines and various figures, mechanical devices and various authentic accessories, and enlightening explanations. Access from Kiryat Weizmann Junction on the Rehovot – Ness Ziona road.

"Hebrew citrus growing” is perhaps one of the more nostalgic concepts in the local culture. And in an age in which nostalgia has become trendy, a visit to the Minkov Citrus Orchard Museum certainly does the job. On this site, in 1904, Rehovot’s first orchard was planted by Zalman Minkov. After years of neglect it was decided about twenty years ago to rehabilitate and renew it, both content wise and past spirit wise. Thus one can find here a walled courtyard which includes the "House of the Citrus-Grower”, a reconstructed fruit packing facility, dining room, an accumulation pool, old irrigation system, and, of course, actual citrus trees. On special occasions activities for the whole family are offered here. Tamar Park, Nachmani Street, Rekovot

The Weizmann Institute of Science, which is situated in the city of Rehovot, is a research institute that specializes in the fields of the Natural Sciences and Mathematics. The campus of the Weizmann Institute of Science resembles a huge museum which has put together an impressive collection of buildings that are corner stones in the architectural development in Israel. At the Weizmann Institute of Science one can find the Garden of Science, which is a unique outdoor museum.  A tour here includes a multi-media display which describes the up-to-date researches that are being done at the Weizmann Institute of Science at the present and a lookout over to the Sun Tower which rises to an impressive height and is one of the most advanced facilities in the world for the research of the sun’s energy. The magnificent house of Chaim Weizmann, the first President of the State of Israel, is located on a hill which is also a part of the Weizmann Institute of Science’s campus. This house, which is considered an architectural gem, was turned into a museum that preserves the structure’s elegant and unique character. Near the house of Chaim Weizmann one can find the burial site of the couple, Chaim and Vera Weizmann.

The Dondikov House was the third house that was built in Rehovot. The Dondikov House is named after the philanthropist Abraham Joshua Dondikov, who purchased lands in the area. The Dondikov House was built on a top of a hill in 1891 and served (after Dondikov death as well) as a meeting place for the people of Rehovot. Even the writer Moshe Smilansky lived and wrote here books and articles. The Dondikov House, which does not overlook wild open spaces anymore but is situated among the city’s modern buildings, is today taken care of by Rehovot’s Municipality and serves as a lovely municipal gallery which presents monthly works by various artists. And thus, the artistic value of a visit to the Dondikov House, with its functional structure and lovely tile roof, is accompanied by a historical atmosphere. The Dondikov House is located on 32 Yaakov Street.
