Even sworn Tel Avivis will be surprised to discover this vast and unknown piece of nature named the "Afeka Caves”. This area, which touches to the south on the neighborhood of Ramat Aviv Gimel and to the east on the Ayalon Highway, is actually a huge field which is decorated by the colorful blossoms of irises, chrysanthemums and tulips during the spring and a strong green shade dotted with anemones in the winter. A short and unmarked walking trail of about a kilometer and a half leads the visitors to a high hill which looks over the whole area and to a few Samaritan burial caves which are dug into the rock. These Byzantine era caves have integrated well into the landscape and the flora which surround them, and everything looks harmonious and peaceful. One can visit the caves and examine them from up close. One can also have a pleasant walk along the shaded eucalyptus avenue which is located in the northern part of the area near the Ahijah Stream. Arrival: park at the crossroad of Dresner and Gruner Streets in Ramat Aviv Gimel and walk to the north on a nearby dirt trail. It is recommended to include a visit in the nearby Glilot Valley.
