At the center of Old Jaffa, where activity took place already in its ancient days, is the picturesque Kikar Kdumim (Kdumim Square) which is close to many of the area’s sites. Here were excavated many archeological finds from various periods. In those excavations, which took place following the foundation of the State of Israel, were found houses which served the Hasmoneans, Philistine pottery and more. A vast depression at the center of Kdumim Square, which was a part of the archeological digs, points to the unique finds and creates a special and beautifully designed echo toward the city. This is also an area which attracts many tourist and visitors, due to its characteristic urban landscape: narrow alleys, a vast green garden and also a few restaurants, cafés, souvenir stands and lovely galleries. During the summer, various events take place here which attract many culture fans.
