Much power and might are connected with the Andromeda Rock (or rocks), the name of which is tied with the adventurous tale of the Greek Mythology. The Greek Mythology tells of a great sea monster that terrorized this area and drowned many ships here. In order to appease it once a year one of the daughters of Jaffa was scarified to it. When it was Andromeda’s turn, she was chained to this rock, but at the last minute she was saved by Perseus who killed the monster and married Andromeda. Even the historian, Josephus Flavius, mentions this story in one of his writings. Today, one can walk on the Jaffa Port Promenade and watch these ancient rocks on which the water breaks incessantly and perhaps even imagine the iron chains which served to tie Andromeda still there.
