The Jerusalem Light Rail, which was made available to the public in 2011, travels from Pisgat Ze'ev in the north to Mount Herzl in the south through Jaffa Street which is in the center of the city of Jerusalem. The length of this line, which is the first of five planned lines, is about 14 kilometers. The Jerusalem Light Rail stops in strategic touristic places, such as Giv'at HaTahmoshet (Ammunition Hill), the Damascus Gate (Sha'ar Shkhem) and the Old City, Jaffa Street, the Mahane Yehuda Market, Nahalat Shiv'a and Mount Herzl. The Jerusalem Light Rail also passes on Santiago Calatrava’s Chords Bridge, located in the center of the city and connecting between Herzl Boulevard and Jaffa Street. There is no doubt that in the traffic packed Jerusalem this is an ideal way to move from one place to another.
