The famous poetess and parachutist Hannah Szenes is commemorated where her home used to be, in Kibbutz Sdot Yam. At the Hannah Szenes House Museum the story of the heroine who left in 1944 on a mission to save Jews in Europe is told. Hannah Szenes was caught by the Nazis, tortured and executed. In 1950 her bones were brought for burial on Mount Herzl in Israel. At the Hannah Szenes House Museum there is a fascinating audio-visual display in several languages and a short lecture which will tell the visitors not only about Hannah Szenes herself, but also about the time in which she worked. One can also find here an education center that is dedicated to Hannah Szenes and to the paratroopers who worked beside her at that time.
