The Catholic Church and cemetery of Iqrit are the last remnants of the Christian village which was located here and evacuated during the 1948 War of Independence with the promise made to its inhabitants to be returned to their homes. The displaced people of the village dispersed between the settlements of the Galilee and life in this village have not been renewed since. The story and struggle of this village’s former inhabitants to return to their homes continue and they carry on in maintaining the church’s structure and the cemetery out of the belief that they will one day return to the village and resume their lives there. Arrival through road number 899, and then about 300 kilometers east of the entrance to the moshav of Shomera look for a hill and a church.
