The Iris Reserve in Netanya

Many trails wind along and inside the beautiful Iris Reserve in Netanya, the official name of which is the "Purple Iris Reserve”. One can also find anemones, tulips and groundsels at the Purple Iris Reserve, but when the purple iris gives its show it overshadows all the rest. The small Purple Iris Reserve also serves as a home to foxes, hares and field mice. The purple iris is endemic only to Israel and it spreads from the area of Zichron Ya’akov and until Ashdod. The purple iris got its name due to its dark color, which sometimes tends even toward black. The Purple Iris Reserve is not large but one can still spend a long time here on a pleasant walk. The Purple Iris Reserve also provides very informative signs about the irises, children amusement installations, picnic areas and more.
