Yardenit (the diminutive form of the name of the Jordan River in Hebrew) is located where the Jordan River flows from the Sea of Galilee, to the south of the city of Tiberias, and it serves as a baptismal site for pilgrims who arrive here from all around the world. According to the Christian Faith, Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River in the area of Jericho. When access to that location has become impossible, the traditional baptismal site was moved to Yardenit. The Jordan River is quiet and beautiful here and the eucalyptus trees give shade to its banks. One can sit here at the café which is located on the bank of the river and enjoy the views. When a group of pilgrims arrives here, it is a special spiritual experience as well.
