On the surface, a visit to a cemetery does not bode well, but when we are speaking of a place which combines charming views together with historic tales the picture starts to change to the better. Such a place is the Kinneret Cemetery, located opposite of the village of Kinneret, on road number 90. The very well-kept site near the Israeli National Lake of the Sea of Galilee has beautiful old trees which provide not only wonderful shade but also a special aspect to the place. The cemetery is known mainly because of the famous poetess Rachel who asked in her will to be buried here. But there are not a few other famous people buried here as well; many of them are familiar from Israeli history books and names of streets: from Zionist founders, such as Berl Katznelson and Moshe Hess to Dov Borochov, Nachman Syrkin and also Naomi Shemer- Israeli songwriter hailed as the "first lady of Israeli song and poetry"- which lived in the adjacent village.
