Yad LaShiryon- The Armored Corps Memorial Site and Museum at Latrun

One of the more prominent symbols of Yad LaShiryon- the Armored Corps Memorial Site and Museum at Latrun is an old "Sherman” tank on top of a high concrete tower. The complex itself serves as a Memorial Site for the fallen soldiers of the Armored Corps in all of Israel’s military campaigns and as a Museum which presents different aspects of the world of the Armored Corps. This place offers guided tours for individuals and for groups and in it there is a memorial wall, an exhibition of armored vehicles from all around the world (from the beginning of modern armored vehicle days, in World War I), an auditorium in which a film is shown about the history of the Armored Corps, a battle heritage room, a vast stamp collection on the subject and also areas such as the "Armored Units Park” and even a bird watching facility and more. The collection of armored vehicles includes tanks, portable bridges, half-tracks, armored personnel carriers, armored cars and armored vehicles from the Israeli War of Independence.
