It is true that the Carmel Market is bigger and more colorful and popular, but the Levinsky Market offers a more relaxed atmosphere and the opportunity for discovering unfamiliar corners, mostly culinary, in the city of Tel Aviv, which many think they know by heart. In the same way that furniture is bought on Herzl Street and lamps are bought on Wolffsohn Street, the Levinsky Market is the place for spices. And alongside the spices are unknown bakery shops, numerous sections of burekas (filled pastry) shops and wonderful delicatessens which offer pickles, cheeses, exotic meat cold cuts, filled olives and a great variety of other goods which sit on numerous small selves. And speaking of spices, the best known place in the market is "Pereg Spices”, but going on a thorough tour of the place will bring you to many other and just as wonderful treasures. The market is active during weekdays, and the climax of its activity is on Friday mornings. The great part of its activity takes place between the Aliyah Street and Herzl Street. And for a fuller Tel-Avivi experience, it is recommended to start or finish the tour in the neighborhood of Florentine.
