Neve Tzedek is the first official Jewish neighborhood which was built outside the walls of the city of Jaffa. It was established in 1887 and is considered to be the first neighborhood of the city of Tel Aviv. This picturesque neighborhood is knows for its narrow alleys, stylish shops, art galleries and elegant houses. In this neighborhood are some important cultural institutions, such as the Suzanne Dellal Center for Dance and Theater and the Nachum Gutman Museum which is dedicated to the life and work of the artist Nachum Gutman who was born in this neighborhood. There are neighborhood cafés here and fine restaurants, and walking around one can enjoy the colorful businesses, prestigious jewelry stores, unique house-ware stores, bakeries which offer home-made style baked foods, stores which sell ceramics and boutique ice-cream shops.
