Even though officially Peki'in is considered today a Regional Council, everyone still considers it a village. And Peki'in is a village in the full sense of the word. Peki'in is picturesque, has narrow winding alleys, stone houses with vines climbing on some of their roofs and a pleasant intimate atmosphere. Already at the time of the Second Jewish Temple Peki'in was inhabited with Jews and in the 11th century Muslims and Druze lived here. Beyond the fact that a leisurely walk around is an excellent option, do not miss out on a visit in some of the main attractions here: the Cave of Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai, where according to tradition Rabbi Shimon ben Yochai hid and wrote the Book of Zohar (the chief work of the Kabbalah) with his son; the ancient synagogue (which was built in its current form in 1873), Peki'in’s spring with its small pool, which serves as Peki'in’s center, and more.
