Nahal Salvadora (Salvadora Stream)

Nahal Salvadora (Salvadora Stream) got its name from the Salvadora, a rare tree in the region (not to be confused with the Salvadora Nature Reserve located not far from Jericho). This is one of the most northern places in the world where this tree grows. Its trunk is twisted and rough and its green leaves are big and fleshy. If you are lucky and the place is relatively empty of travelers you might be able to spot an ibex or a hyrax coming to eat these leaves. Either way, not far from the place where it meets the Dead Sea, Nahal Salvadora (Salvadora Stream) offers an easy trail which is suitable for the whole family, and includes a powerful waterfall which pours from the heights of the He'etekim Cliff, a spring, fossils and an unusual botanical richness. The trail stretches over less than 2 kilometers, when the length of the Salvadora Stream is only 4 kilometers. Arrival through road number 90, between the kibbutzes of Mitzpe Shalem and Ein Gedi.
