Near the picturesque port of Acre (Akko), is the first mosque that was built in Acre since the time of the Crusaders. It was built in 1586 by the Ottomans, but 200 years later great parts of it were destroyed. Only in the beginning of the 19th century was the Acre Sea Mosque renovated and got the look that resembles that which it still has today. The Acre Sea Mosque is not a large one. It has a main prayer hall and a courtyard. The Acre Sea Mosque has a beautiful and impressive golden dome which can be seen to a distance. One can get to the Acre Sea Mosque through the Venezia Square (Kikar HaDayagim or Fisherman Square). The Acre Sea Mosque is also known as the "El Mina Mosque" (or the "Port Mosque"), the El Bahar Mosque, or the Sinan Pasha Mosque.
