In 1994, the Performing Arts Center, also known as the Opera House, opened at the Golda Center which is on Shaul HaMelech (King Solomon) Street. This is in fact the home of the Israeli Opera and it was designed by the late architect, Ya'akov Rechter. At the Performing Arts Center, which is considered one of the most advanced and sophisticated of its kind, are held also dance and music performances. The structure is considered especially intriguing architecturally and as the architect, Ya'akov Rechter, wrote in his papers, tries to give an architectural expression to the combination between the desire to create in the city a structure of an impressive public presence and the informal character of Tel Aviv which lacks extravagance. As such, the Performing Arts Center does have a distinct public presence, but it is also a relatively moderate one. Inside the Performing Arts Center the entrance hall of the Opera House spreads over three levels which look outside through a glass fa?ade and create a harmonious atmosphere together. In this space, which was designed by the architect Ron Arad, are held changing art exhibitions.
