Tel Hazor (‎Hatzor Mound)

Acient Tel Hazor (‎Hatzor Mound), located in the southern part of the Hula Valley, is one of the most important of the archeological sites of Israel and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. According to the archeological excavations which took place at Tel Hazor (‎Hatzor Mound), this site was inhabited for the first time in the Early Canaanite Period (3300-2200 BCE). Visitors to the charming site of Tel Hazor will get to view various findings, such as a large structure from the Late Bronze Age, a wall and a gate that are attributed to the days of the rule of King Solomon, and another large and impressive structure, the Hazor water-supply system, which was probably built during the time of the rule of Ahab, the Biblical king of Israel. The engineers of Hazor built a sophisticated and unique water-supply system, which purpose was to supply the residents of the ancient city of Hazor with water. This water-supply system, which is completely housed within Tel Hazor, included a 45 meters deep pit which was cut into the rock and reached the underground water level.
