Beit Hadvash VeHadvorah (The House of the Honey and the Bee) in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai

There are places that one arrives at because of, or thanks to, one’s children. Beit Hadvash VeHadvorah (The House of the Honey and the Bee) in Kibbutz Yad Mordechai, which is located on the Southern Coastal Plain, is an example to such a place. Here the children will learn about the bee’s life cycle, its life within the hive collective, the honey collecting process, the uniqueness to the bee queen, and more. The visit includes a live demonstration of honey collection (or at least the opening of an active beehive). Not to worry- everything is done behind a protective glass. At the Kibbutz of Yad Mordechai’s Visitors Center, where one can also purchase a variety of products that are based on honey, there is a lovely exhibition of diverse equipment, which serves to complete the explanations which the children have just finished receiving. For those who would like to learn more, there is an additional video offered here as well.
