Me'arat HaTeomim (The Twins Cave) is one of the most beautiful of its kind and the deeper one goes in it the more surprised one gets at its size (a flashlight is a must in order to see one’s way as well as for watching the hordes of bats which live on the cave’s walls or fly above your heads). Me'arat HaTeomim (The Twins Cave) is situated in the picturesque Cave Stream Canyon (Wadi Nahal Me'ara) which is located at the western edge of the mountains of Jerusalem, and in order to complete the picture, it is filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Me'arat HaTeomim (The Twins Cave) has a central space from which branch dim stone corridors. A small spring flows in the cave, the water of which, some believe, help in healing barrenness and other medical predicaments. Me'arat HaTeomim(The Twins Cave) closes for visitors for the winter every November, in order to allow the many bats that live in it (mostly fruit bats) to hibernate for the winter undisturbed.
