Netanya Forest (Sergeants Grove), Netanya

Sergeants Grove (also called by the important sounding name of the Netanya Forest), is a relatively small green area of pure nature. During the spring, many nature lovers come here to enjoy the blossoms as well as some rare plants. Among other plants, one can find here the Yellow Lupin which is considered endangered in Israel. Actually, due to the fact that already at the time of the British Mandate in this country this place was declared to be protected from any development work, oak trees (and eucalyptuses that were planted here later) flourish here. In addition, over an area of less than 300 square meters here, were found more that 280 species of plants, 29 of which are considered rare. Beyond this, another interesting story is that the Sergeants Grove was named after two British sergeants who were hung here by the "Irgun” in 1947 in retribution for the execution of members of the organization (a story over which there is some argument). This place offers lovely areas, some playground facilities and an especially peaceful atmosphere.
Arrival at Sergeants Grove: located on HaUniversita Street, in Kiryat HaSharon neighborhood, Netanya.
